The First Worldwide Congress of the poet’s descendants will take place in the capital when the 210th anniversary of the poet’s birth. The main anniversary events will take place in State Pushkin Museum.
It is symbolic that the meeting of descendants of the greatest Russian poet born at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries will take place in the business-hotel “Borodino” which proudly bears such an outstanding historical name. According to the words of the hotel managing director Elena Kuryleva, the level of the events and the status of the persons who choose “Borodino” business-hotel as the place to stay in Moscow better than words confirms the prestige of the hotel. Being a close-knit team, the hotel has managed to won the competitors’ respect, the partners’ trust, to become a hospitable home for our clients.
The invitations for the congress were sent to more than 200 of Pushkin’s descendants. For today more than 70 descendants accepted it including Alexander and Maria Pushkin (Belgium), Nikolay Soldatenkov (France), Klotilda von Rintelen (Germany) with her son Alexander, Peter Durnuvo (France), Elena and Andre Brazeul (France), Mikhail Vorontsov-Veliaminov (France), Andrey Svanidze (Germany), Alexandra Caroline Pushkin (the USA) and many other representatives of the Pushkins, Kologrivovs, Galins, Sukharevs, Danilevskys, Lukashes, Vorontsovs, Usovs and other families of Russia, close and far abroad.
It is remarkable that there were more girls than boys born in the families of Pushkin’s descendants, that’s why there was few direct Pushkin’s descendants. Nowadays the poet’s nearest direct descendent (great-great grandson) Alexander Pushkin lives in Brussels. For the last 150 years Pushkin’s indirect family tree has branched greatly and nowadays has about 58 branches, i.e. families residing in Russia, France, Germany, England, the USA, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Ukraine, Georgia and even in Hawaii isles and in Morocco. The largest family branch resides in Great Britain where it intermarried with the royal dynasty. Quite a lot of Pushkins can be found in Russia, mainly they are the descendants of the poet’s sun Alexander.
